10 Quotes That Will Make You Want to Travel

Just a scenic canal in Jordaan

Pictures and stories about faraway places and unseen wonders can be very inspirational to jump start a travel hobby or lifestyle.  But sometimes, a simple quote from an inspirational traveler or a great work of literature will be what really gets you out of your routine and into the world.  No one can better express the sense of wanderlust and exploration most travelers feel than those who have felt it themselves.

Here are ten of my favorite travel quotes accompanied by stunning travel photos I found by great photographers on Flickr, and here’s hoping they inspire you to see someplace new this year:

“And if travel is like love, it is, in the end, mostly because it’s a heightened state of awareness, in which we are mindful, receptive, undimmed by familiarity and ready to be transformed.  That is why the best trips, like the best love affairs, never really end.”

    • Thanks Dana! It's one of my favorites as well...and yes, looking at photos like these makes me want to pack up and leave right away!

  • All of them are truly moving quotes, but I think I resonate with #4 the most.
I tried to like your post, but couldn't find the 'like' button.
This, after having to write Iris, whose blog sent me to yours, when I couldn't get the link to work.

I begin to fear I am not as good at the whole blogging thing as I wish I were.

    All the best,
    Scott

    • Thanks Scott! That's one of my personal favorites as well. Sorry for the confusion, I hope it's not a problem on my end! Let me know if you have any additional issues on my site and I'll check it out :)

  • I personally think #10 is brilliant and I've always felt travel is best compared to the feeling of falling in love. Everything is beautiful, new and exciting...all you want to do is immerse yourself in it. And the best part is, you get to fall all over again at each new destination! Cool blog, keep at it.

    • That's my personal favorite as well! Landing in a new country where I know absolutely nothing is the closest I get to that immersive feeling of crazy teenage love. It's wonderful!

  • It good to be drop in here, I love the quote you've shared here. I just copy one for mine. I will print this out and put in my camera pad.

  • My friends refer me here and I'm glad to read your post, it is more informative and I will recommend this site to my friends also. Thanks for sharing and more power.
